Two teens taken to hospital after crash

Two Sherando High School students were transported to Winchester Medical Center Wednesday after a two-vehicle collision.

The crash happened around 11:36 a.m. in the intersection of Tasker Road and Warrior Road in Stephen’s City, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler.

The driver was a 17-year-old female while an 18-year-old male sat in the passenger seat. They were traveling eastbound in a 2003 Ford Focus on Tasker when the driver went to make a left turn onto Warrior, Tyler said.

As she made the turn, a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by a 40-year-old male from Gore, collided with her vehicle in the intersection, Tyler continued.

Both vehicles had green lights at the time of the incident, he added.

The 17-year-old female was charged with failure to yield to the right of way, Tyler said.

The two Ford Focus occupants were taken to Winchester Medical Center.

Tyler said there was some lane blockage around the intersection for about one hour after the incident.

Virginia State Trooper M.W. Painter investigated the crash, assisted by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department and Stephen’s City fire and rescue companies.
