West Virginia man facing burglary, larceny charges

By Joe Beck

Shenandoah County authorities have filed charges against a Martinsburg, W.Va., man who they believe committed several home invasions and burglaries in the area before he was arrested on or about Feb. 9 in Pennsylvania.

Terry Wayne Siford, 37, is charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny in Shenandoah County, plus other charges pending against him in Pennsylvania.

Shenandoah County Maj. Scott Proctor said Siford was still being held in the Franklin County jail in Chambersburg, Pa., as of Tuesday.

"He's got to be extradited back to Virginia and at that point, most likely additional charges will be placed against him for crimes in our county," Proctor said.

Shenandoah County authorities say they have tied Siford to five of eight home invasions or burglaries committed between late last year and early February in an area stretching from Edinburg to Woodstock.

Proctor said authorities executed a search warrant Feb. 9 at Siford's Martinsburg home and found "items recovered at that residence that were related to our crimes down here."

Proctor said he is confident no other suspects are involved in the crimes authorities believe Siford committed.

Proctor said he had no information on the circumstances of Siford's arrest in Pennsylvania but his alleged offenses in that state are similar to those he is accused of committing in Shenandoah County.

Proctor said he is unsure when Pennsylvania authorities will extradite Siford. Much depends on court proceedings in Pennsylvania.

"It could be lengthy or it could be quicker," Proctor said.
