Blue Ridge Hospice expands to Strasburg

STRASBURG — Radio Shack is closing more than a thousand of its stores across the country, but its Strasburg location is not one of them.
The Radio Shack on East King Street will move directly next door along with Shenandoah Video & Tan. A Blue Ridge Hospice Thrift Shop will move into its former 4,500-square-foot space.
Blue Ridge Hospice, which uses the proceeds from its thrift shop sales to provide hospice care for area residents, has six thrift shops including locations in Front Royal, Stephens City and Winchester.
Renee Kronk, who will manage the new Strasburg thrift shop, said Blue Ridge Hospice was looking to expand and saw a demand in town.
“We have other smaller thrift stores,” she said. “I think they will still do well serving the community, but with the extra space we’re going to have large furniture, antiques, glassware, housewares — we have everything and we take everything.”
She added that customers are happy about the video store staying open.
“I think that’s a great thing for Strasburg,” she said. “There’s years left in the video business.”
A grand opening for Blue Ridge Hospice Thrift Shop is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 15. The shop will be located at 390 East King St., Strasburg.
