The Shenandoah National Park has announced its spring opening dates. The Harry F. Byrd Visitor Center will continue serving visitors on weekends until March 29 when it will begin operating seven days a week. The Dickey Ridge Visitor Center will open Thursday though Monday beginning April 4, and will be open seven days a week beginning May 10. Skyland Resort will open March 27, Big Meadows Cabins and Lewis Mountain Campstore will open April 2, Big Meadows Wayside will open April 4, Elkwallow and Loft Mountain waysides will open April 11, Big Meadows Shower/Laundry will open April 25, Loft Mountain Campstore and Loft Mountain Showers and Laundry will open May 7 and Big Meadows Lodge will open May 14.

Gourmet on the Go LLC, which currently operates the on-campus food service for Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, will expand its operations as part of the development of the new Student Union building that opened earlier this year. The food service provider is scheduled to open on March 24. During the spring and fall semesters the café will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 2 p.m. on Fridays.

The Winchester Group, an insurance provider based in Winchester, has received the President’s Circle Award from Harleysville Insurance Group. According to a release, The Winchester Group has demonstrated a strong commitment to increasing growth year over year and building a stronger relationship with the Harleysville organization, which is a Nationwide Insurance company.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Virginia Farm Service Agency is reminding everyone to appreciate the hardworking farmers and ranchers in Virginia on March 25 for National Ag Day. The theme for this year is “Agriculture: 365 Sunrises and 7 Billion Mouths to Feed.”

The USDA has also announced the expansion of the Farm Storage and Facility Loan program, which provides low-interest financing to producers. The enhanced program includes 22 new categories of eligible equipment for fruit and vegetable producers, and makes it easier for farmers and ranchers around the country to finance the equipment they need to grow and expand.

Beth Medved Waller and Team Waller Real Estate ranked first in the Shenandoah Valley Office and Weichert Capital Region in 2013 at the Blue Ridge Association of Realtors banquet on March 15. Waller received a Hall of Fame Platinum Award at the banquet and Lead Buyer’s Agent Eric Reploeg received a “Top 10 Agent Award” ranking for the region.

Barbara Bailey, of Skyline Team Real Estate, received the Outstanding Sales Club Award and the President’s Club Award for 2013 at the Massanutten Association of Realtors Annual Awards Banquet.

Harrisonburg-based generator company The Power Connection Inc. has recently earned the designation of “PowerPro Premiere Dealer” from Generac. According to a release, this is the highest level of distinction available to members of Generac’s dealer network and open to only those who meet the most rigorous set of sales and customer service criteria.
