Terry Wayne Siford Jr., identified by Shenandoah County authorities as a suspect in a wave of burglaries and home invasions since late last year, may also have been involved in similar crimes in Pennsylvania, according to law enforcement officials.
Pennsylvania state trooper Aaron Martin said authorities have been investigating a series of recent break-ins in the Chambersburg area, where Siford is being held on $250,000 bond in the Franklin County jail.
Siford, 37, of Martinsburg, W.Va., has been jailed since his arrest Feb. 9 on burglary and robbery charges after a home invasion of an elderly resident’s home.
Martin said law enforcement officials have fielded 15 recent reports of break-ins in southern Pennsylvania around Chambersburg and others in Maryland.
“We’re actively investigating his involvement in similar crimes involving home invasions of elderly victims,” Martin said of Siford
Siford has also been charged since his arrest in Pennsylvania with two counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny in Shenandoah County.
Sheriff’s officials here say they may also file additional charges against Siford after he can be extradited back to Virginia from Pennsylvania. Shenandoah County authorities say Siford is a suspect in five of eight home invasions or burglaries reported late last year and early this year.
Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Siford’s Martinsburg’s home Feb. 9 and seized items they believe are linked to some of the break-ins committed in this area.
Shenandoah County authorities say they have no reports of any violence committed during encounters between the intruder and residents.
