Middletown police suspect three men in recent break-ins

Authorities in Middletown have located three men they believe are responsible for a series of home invasions and burglaries.

Chief of Police R. Philip Breeden said the investigation has led to three suspects, all of whom are currently imprisoned in various locations on other charges.

Breeden said the department plans to indict two of the men — one on a series of jewelry thefts and another on multiple car thefts. Both are from Frederick County

“We recovered a lot of the items that came from the vehicles from his residence,” he said.

That suspect is also likely to be indicted on breaking and entering into both the Irish Isle restaurant in Middletown, and the Wayside Inn, he continued.

The third man is incarcerated in Pennsylvania, Breeden said, on charges of home invasion there. The suspect is wanted in several states, Breeden added, and described him as a “primary suspect.” The suspect is also wanted on charges in Washington County, Md., as well as in Frederick and Shenandoah counties.

“Right now we, along with several other jurisdictions, are not really in a great hurry because of the fact that they are incarcerated on other charges, and not out in the public,” Breeden said.

“We’re going over our cases head to toe to make sure we have the absolute best cases we can so the juries won’t have a doubt at all about them,” he added.
