Prostitution sting nets seven arrests

Mount Jackson police arrested six people March 27 as a result of an undercover operation targeting prostitution.
Town police charged the following people with solicitation for prostitution: Jason Mitchell, 29, of Stafford; Daryl G. Mumaw, 34, of Edinburg; Matthew Barlass, 29, of Strasburg; Gregory Forde, 56, of Mount Jackson; Justin Gibson, 30, of King George; and Luis G. Valdez, 23, of Harrisonburg.
Town police Chief J.D. Fadley issued a press release with information on the arrested subjects. Town authorities led the operation with members of the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Woodstock, New Market and the city of Winchester.
Sheriff’s deputies also arrested James W. “Jim” Deskins, 59, of Winchester, on the solicitation charge and one count of possession of marijuana. Deskins works as the director of redevelopment for the city’s Economic Development Authority.
