The list of defendants identified in a drug bust encompassing five counties and federal state and local law enforcement agencies expanded Friday with the release of names from Shenandoah County.
The Sheriff's Office listed eight arrests, most of them from the area around Mount Jackson, New Market and Edinburg. The defendants were swept up Tuesday during Operation Valley Venue II, a drug crackdown that produced 86 traffic, felony and misdemeanor charges against 40 defendants in Frederick, Warren, Clarke Shenandoah, and Page counties, and Winchester and several towns.
One of the Shenandoah County cases is heroin-related and several others involve accusations of selling or possessing illegal prescription drugs. Authorities listed schedule I or schedule II drugs for other cases, examples of which include heroin, LSD, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, methamphetamine and oxycodone, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Shenandoah County Maj. Scott Proctor said the raids in Shenandoah County have spawned further investigations.
"I'm sure they're ongoing and drug related," Proctor said. "We did have at least one person who turned himself in as a result of Valley Venue. He had apparently gotten the information or heard that someone was looking for him and turned himself in."
Proctor said the man who turned himself in was wanted for a drug offense.
The eight names released Friday bring the total Operation Valley Venue arrests in Shenandoah, Frederick and Warren counties to 24.
Those arrested and charged in Shenandoah County include:
Bruce Albert Jenkins, 21, of Mount Jackson, sale and distribution of schedule I or schedule II drugs.
Zeb Zacharia Wilson, 25, of Mount Jackson, probation violation.
Michael Lee Gray Jr., 24, of Mount Jackson, probation violation.
Barbara Harlow, 24, of New Market, three counts of possession of a schedule I or schedule II drug, one of which was allegedly heroin.
William Turner, 52, of New Market, five counts allegedly involving illegal prescription pills and medications.
William Thomas Thames, 30, of Mount Jackson, two counts related to prescription pills and medication.
Jonathan Dale Neice, 37, of Mount Jackson, sale or possession of schedule I or schedule II drugs.
Eric Charles Eskridge, 32, of Strasburg, possession of a schedule I or schedule II drug.
Jamie Bolt Stonebreaker, 36, of Strasburg, five counts of sale or distribution of a schedule I or schedule II drug.
Proctor said a variety of agencies were involved in the raid.
"We were assisted by task force agents from the Northwest Virginia Drug and Task Force," Proctor said. "Of course, the individual police departments, if they didn't have their own operation, they assisted and participated in Valley Venue."
