Woman arrested in hit and run case
A Stephens City woman was arrested and charged with drunk driving and felony hit and run in a case involving a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Valley Mill Road at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
Sgt. F.L. (Les) Tyler of the Virginia State Police identified the victim as Elizabeth Marie Bell, 36, of Winchester. She was taken to Winchester Medical Center. Tyler had no further information on her condition.
Tyler said Bell was walking east on Valley Mill Road just south of Va. 7 when she was hit by a 2008 Kia Optima. The driver fled the scene in the vehicle, which was later located at a residence near the scene, Tyler said.
The vehicle's driver was identified as Catherine Leah Lindahl, 22, of Stephens City, She was arrested and taken into custody, Tyler said.
Tyler said the Frederick County Sheriff's Office canine unit helped state police locate Lindahl and her vehicle.
