Bridge replacement project on schedule

The South Fork bridge replacement project remains on schedule as workers build concrete piers and construct a new intersection at U.S. 340-522 and Va. 55 (Strasburg Road). The project replaces the current crossing over the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. The new quadrant roadway intersection that eliminates the left turn from Va. 55 at U.S. 340-522 will be opened when the bridge is completed, Virginia Department of Transportation spokesman Ken Slack said Tuesday. The contractor brought about 200 truck loads of dirt for the new intersection - the first of its kind in the district. VDOT contracted with G.A. & F.C. Wagman of York, Pennsylvania, to build the $48.4 million project scheduled to open in late 2017. Visit http://www.warrencountyva.net/ and click on the link for information about the new intersection.
