Old Dominion Insurance & Investments, Inc., located in Winchester, has announced a new affiliation with PlanMember Securities Corporation as a PlanMember Financial Center.

According to a news release from Old Dominion president S. Bruce Allen, the affiliation will allow Allen and his team to expand the services they offer the community, including an “array of retirement investment planning and financial education opportunities for educators and employees of nonprofits in Winchester and the surrounding Shenandoah Valley area.”

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative has awarded grants to emergency service agencies, nonprofits and local schools, totaling $16,000, through REC’s LEARN (Literacy, Education and Rural Networking) program.

Those awarded funds include Middletown and Stonewall elementaries in Frederick County, Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging in Front Royal, and Shenandoah Shores Fire Department in Front Royal.

CBM Mortgage has recently hired Jon Barry, a graduate of both the University of Virginia and Warren County High School, as the company’s new chief operations officer. According to a release, “Jon’s background fits into our mission of hiring homegrown successful people.”

Bret Hrbek, of Edward Jones, a financial services firm in Front Royal, was recently awarded the firm’s Jim McKenzie Award. Hrbek was recognized for his exceptional achievement in building client relationships. Of Edward Jones’ 13,000 financial advisers, Hrbek was one of 1,360 to receive the award.
