Stephens City man faces child sex assault charges in New Jersey

By Joe Beck

A Stephens City man appeared in a Freehold, New Jersey, courtroom Tuesday on five counts linked to sexual assaults of two minors in that community.

Charles Webster, public information officer for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office in New Jersey, said a judge ordered Angelo See, 24, of 207 Stickley Drive, Stephens City, held on $700,000 bond. New Jersey authorities also listed an address of 2123 Front Royal Pike in Winchester for See, Webster said.

Webster said See could be sentenced up to 40 years in prison under New Jersey law.

The charges against See include two counts of aggravated sexual assault, one against a 12-year-old girl and one against a 14-year-old girl, according to criminal complaints filed in the case.

The same victims are also listed in two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of aggravated sexual criminal contact filed against See.

Webster said members of the Marlboro Township Police Department in New Jersey arrested See on June 30, a day after See allegedly committed the assaults.

Webster had no comment on how the case came to the attention of the police or the circumstances leading up to See's arrest.

"Because of the nature of the investigation, I can't comment on that," Webster said, adding authorities try not to identify child sexual assault victims beyond the initials of their first and last names.

"We really try not to harm these victims any further," Webster said. "If I were to answer that question, that would be helping identify the victims."
