Police seek suspects in theft, attempted fraud
Winchester police are seeking information on what they believe are two connected incidents that occurred on Monday involving a theft at one store and attempted fraud at another.
A woman reported that her blue Relic wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was shopping at Target in Winchester shortly before 10 a.m. Monday. According to a news release, a video shows she was distracted by a black male who asked her questions while another black male went through her purse, which was in the shopping cart.
Later, the release states, at the Target store in Front Royal, the suspect tried to charge more than $2,000 to a credit card that was in the wallet stolen from the Winchester Target shopper.
Police are suggesting that shoppers not leave purses or wallets in shopping carts.
Anyone with information about these incidents are asked to call Crime Solvers at 540-665-TIPS.
