R-MA President Forsyth resigns

Maj. Gen Maury Forsyth, president of Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, has resigned.

In an announcement from the school late on Friday afternoon, Celeste Brooks, director of public relations, announced Forsyth’s retirement and the appointment of Jonathan Ezell as acting president. Ezell is currently the academic dean of the upper school at R-MA.

“Gen. Forsyth has done a great job in the last year and we’re really going to miss him,” Brooks said in a phone interview. She said she didn’t have any more information about the resignation than she had outlined in an emailed news release.

“The board of trustees will begin the search immediately for a new head and we’ll be conducting that search for as long as it takes to find the right person,” she said.

Ezell is a very experienced administrator, Brooks said. “The school is in good hands.”
