Three injured in stabbing incident

Three Strasburg residents were taken to Winchester Medical Center early Sunday morning after being injured in what police say was a family fight during which the father stabbed his stepson and wife.
All three were later released from the hospital.
The father, Glen Collins, 50, of 201 Capon St., was charged with two counts of malicious wounding. He is being held without bond in the RSW Regional Jail.
Strasburg police Maj. Jerome Robinson said Monday that Collins stabbed his stepson, Derrick Vaughn, 23, in the stomach during a fight at their home.
Robinson said police received a report of a fight at the residence around 12:56 a.m. Upon arriving, they found that Collins’ wife, Pauletta Collins, had gotten involved in the struggle.
“The wife hears the commotion at which time she tried to separate the two, and she received a cut on her arm as well,” Robinson said.
Robinson said Glen Collins and Vaughn also broke through a glass door while Pauletta Collins tried to get between them.
“There was a glass door, they went through it, so a lot of people had lacerations to different areas of their bodies,” Robinson said.
Collins is scheduled to appear in Shenandoah County General District Court on Sept. 24.
Robinson said he was “sure” alcohol contributed to the fight between Glen Collins and Vaughn.
