Bank robbery suspect arrested

A man charged with twice robbing the United Bank in Winchester has been arrested.

Robert Austin Scott, 24, of Winchester, was arrested and taken into custody at about 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Winchester Police Department. He is charged with two counts of armed robbery and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Scott is believed to have robbed the United Bank at 2252 Valley Avenue in Winchester on Sept. 18 and Oct. 6.

The release states that he displayed a gun and demanded money during both of those robberies.

According to the release, the Winchester SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence early Friday morning. Scott was arrested after authorities found clothing and a firearm at the residence.

Scott is being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center without bond.
