Crash kills driver, injures passenger on I-66 Monday

A single vehicle crash Monday on Interstate 66 in Warren County took the life of a West Virginia man and injured a passenger in his vehicle.

Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. (Les) Tyler said Logan More, 22, died of injuries suffered when his westbound 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck drove off of I-66 at the 3.7 mile marker at about 11:50 a.m.

The truck hit a guard rail on the right side of the road and struck several trees before stopping, Tyler said.

A passenger in the truck, Cody Greenlief, also of West Virginia, was taken to Winchester Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, Tyler said.

“There were also a couple of residual crashes from the original crash that contributed to some lengthy detours and lane closures,” Tyler said.

Tyler said one of the crashes involved a tractor trailer hitting the median strip of I-66. A subsequent crash involved several other vehicles.

Tyler said he had no reports on whether anyone was injured in the second and third crashes.

Tyler said trooper P.M. Neff investigated the fatal crash. The cause of the crash and factors contributing to it remain under investigation.

Fire and rescue units from Warren County and members of the Virginia Department of Transportation helped state police at the crash scene.
