Daily staff report
Front Royal has a millionaire – or close to it.
Front Royal resident Linda Jenkins won a $1 million prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Millions to the Max scratch card game, according to a press release issued Thursday.
Jenkins bought a ticket from the 7-Eleven at 2000 Shenandoah Ave. The scratch card revealed she won the top prize of $1 million. Jenkins had the choice of taking the full, $1 million prize in installments over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $766,500 before taxes. Jenkins picked the cash option.
The 7-Eleven store received a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
This marks the third time a player has won the top Millions to the Max prize. Virginia Lottery generated more than $538.6 million for Virginia’s public schools in fiscal 2014.
