Traffic to slow Sunday in Frederick County

The Virginia Department of Transportation has announced there will be both northbound and southbound “slow roll” lane closures conducted by Virginia State Police on Interstate 81 in Frederick County on Sunday morning.

A slow roll is when police stop traffic, then allows it proceed at a slow pace.

The lane closures will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. near Stephens City so crews can install overhead utility lines at mile marker 307. The northbound slow roll will begin at mile marker 304 and the southbound will start at mile marker 310. During the operation, the north and south bound on ramps at Stephens City will be closed.

The operation will take 15 minutes to complete and is subject to change due to weather.
