A Woodstock man was arrested and charged late Friday in a shooting that left the victim with life-threatening injuries.
Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Wesley Dellinger said that Daniel Edward Windle, 29, of 229 Lake View Drive, is facing charges of aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Dellinger said deputies were called to Windle’s residence at about 11:30 p.m. Friday to investigate reports of gunshots at the apartment complex.
“While enroute, deputies learned that an individual sustained a gunshot wound,” Dellinger said.
Dellinger said deputies arrived and found the victim, an adult male, suffering from a life-threatening wound.
The victim was taken to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and then to Winchester Medical Center where he underwent surgery, Dellinger said. Dellinger said the victim, who had been hit by a single shot, appeared likely to survive as of Sunday afternoon.
Dellinger said Windle was arrested and taken into custody without incident at the shooting scene.
Dellinger said the shooting followed an argument between Windle and the victim. Dellinger had no information on what caused the argument. Windle and the victim are unrelated, Dellinger said.
Windle is being held without bond in the RSW Regional Jail. He is scheduled for a bond hearing Monday in Shenandoah County General District Court.
Woodstock police officers assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the crime scene.
