Man charged with possessing child pornography
The Frederick County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has charged a Front Royal man with possession of child pornography as the result of an investigation into his online activities.
Authorities accuse John Leddy, 42, of downloading child pornography files onto his computer and transferring at least eight of the files onto a thumb drive.
Capt. Donnie Lang of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said the task force first identified Leddy as a “person of interest” in early September when agents noticed someone downloading material they believed to be child pornography.
Agents traced the downloading of the alleged pornography to a residence in the 800 block of Braxton Road in Front Royal, Lang said. They executed search warrants after identifying the address as Leddy’s residence.
Leddy’s personal computer was among several electronic devices seized as evidence from the search, Lang said.
Law enforcement agents also executed a search warrant in Frederick County to conduct searches for data contained on the electronic devices seized during the initial search.
Lang said agents are still investigating Leddy and several other individuals who have yet to be charged in the case.
“They told me as of last week that they were still going through stuff on (Leddy’s) computer and conducting a forensic analysis,” Lang said of the investigators.
