According to the Virginia is For Lover’s website, Front Royal is the “Canoe Capitol” of the state. Now, Front Royal can add another title along with that – “Favorite Christmas Town.”

In a Dec. 10 article on the Virginia is For Lover’s Travel Blog, Front Royal was recognized as one of 21 favorite Christmas towns in Virginia.

The list was compiled considering public comments through social media like Facebook, staff and local industry comments, town submissions and photographic quality, said Caroline Logan, director of corporate communication for Virginia is For Lovers.

The towns, Logan said, had to be on Virginia.org in order to be considered.

Tim Smith, coordinator at the Front Royal Visitor’s Center, said that he noticed they were collecting submissions for the list and saw it as a great opportunity.

“I thought it was a great promotional opportunity for us, to get our name out there,” Smith said

Smith noted that he put together a couple of photos and a description of events – like the town’s Christmas parade – for the submission.

With this recognition, Smith said he hopes that it brings more attention to the town of Front Royal.

The plan of getting the town on the a list like this, Smith said, is to bring more awareness that Front Royal is a nice Christmas Town.

“It’s a really nice, pleasant holiday atmosphere here,” Smith said.
