Towns consider water and sewer partnership

STEPHENS CITY — Two towns in Frederick County are considering the possibility of using each others’ water and sewer treatment plants.

Stephens City Town Manager Mike Kehoe said he’s been approached by Middletown officials about the benefits of a joint venture linking the two towns.

Under the proposed agreement, Middletown would get its water from Stephens City, he said, and Stephens City would use Middletown’s wastewater treatment plant.

For such an agreement to meet approval, a feasibility study would have to be conducted and the town councils would have to vote on it.

“It’s not anything that’ll happen overnight,” Kehoe said.
