Chamber to honor community leaders and businesses
The TOP of Virginia Regional Chamber, which serves Clarke and Frederick counties and the city of Winchester, will honor chamber members for their leadership in the community at the Best Western Lee-Jackson Inn and Conference Center on Jan. 30.
For more than 60 years, the Greater Good Award dinner has honored large and small businesses as well as citizens who went above and beyond in contributing time and resources to the chamber, local nonprofits and the community at large.
Katie Brunson, an administrative assistant with the regional chamber, said the awards are given to businesses and citizens for having an active role in multiple charities and the community.
“Instead of giving recognition for one involvement in one charity, we give recognition to companies and people who have been active for a long time and have been involved in many different things in the community,” Brunson said.
A silent auction will also be held at the dinner, where businesses donate products for bidding, with proceeds going to the chamber. Brunson said the auction helps both the chamber and business.
“The auction really helps us as a nonprofit by giving us a lot of funding,” Brunson said. “It also gives businesses the opportunity promote their products because there’s about 450 people there from a lot of different businesses seeing the products.”
The event is open to the public and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets for non-members are $80 and $65 for chamber members. Those interested in attending the event can purchase tickets over the phone at 540-662-4118 or online at www.regionalchamber.biz.com.
