Theater to undergo further repairs
EDINBURG — Local playgoers are hoping the next set of repairs to the Theatre Shenandoah will be its last.
Work will begin on replacing the theater’s chimney flashing, which should fix its longtime leaking problem, said Edinburg Mayor Dan Harshman.
“I think it’s going to involve some mortar work and they’re going to take some bricks out,” he said.
The theater has raised and given the town $500 toward the repairs, which Harshman said will cost about $2,100.
Work will be done by Harrisonburg-based Shencorp Inc., the firm that repaired the theater’s roof in November.
At Tuesday’s Town Council meeting, council:
• Approved applying for a planning grant;
• Reappointed Richard Ritter and John Roller to the Planning Commission.
