Frederick County fire displaces five
A residential fire on Thursday at 756 Fairfax Pike in Frederick County displaced a family of five.
The Frederick County Department of Fire and Rescue received the call at 6:20 p.m. Thursday and crews arrived at the scene to find “fire showing from the residence,” according to a news release.
Fire and rescue crews from Stephens City, Middletown, Strasburg and Winchester also responded to the scene.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire in 20 minutes and were onsite until 9 p.m. performing “salvage and overhaul.”
According to the release, the five residents were at home when the fire occurred, but the fire alarm did not go off.
The release stated a reminder from the fire Marshal’s Office for residents to test their smoke alarms “at least once a month.”
The five residents received assistance from the Red Cross.
