Man arrested in molestation case
Strasburg police arrested a town resident Wednesday and charged him with several offenses linked to the molesting of a toddler about three years ago.
Police Chief Tim Sutherly said members of his department executed a search warrant at the residence of James Alan Huff, 23, on Lemley Street. Huff was charged with aggravated sexual battery against a child less than 13 years old and taking indecent liberties with a child less than 15 years old.
Huff is being held without bond in the Rappahannock Shenandoah and Warren Regional Jail.
Sutherly said Huff committed the alleged offenses between July 1, 2011 and July 31, 2011. A source Sutherly refused to disclose provided police with information that Huff may have molested a small child.
“We got some information yesterday and started doing some legwork,” Sutherly said in an interview Thursday. “Investigators reached out to some people and found enough information to execute a search warrant.”
Sutherly said police seized a computer and cell phone during the search of Huff’s residence.
Sutherly said the victim was 2 years old at the time he was molested and is now 5 or nearly 5 years old.
Sutherly said the investigation is continuing and more charges could be filed as evidence is gathered and sent to the state crime laboratory.
“We’ll analyze that data and decide what direction to go with the investigation,” Sutherly said. “We’ll continue doing interviews and things of that nature.”
