Chamber to celebrate its 75th birthday at banquet

The Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 75th anniversary during its annual banquet April 10.

The “75th Diamond Anniversary Gala” will be held at the Holiday Inn and Suites near Front Royal. It will  feature a silent and live auction, as well as awards for Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Education Contributor of the Year, Nonprofit Organization of the Year and Public Safety award.

Chamber Executive Director Nikki Foster said she and the chamber are “really excited” to be celebrating 75 years in the community.

“It’s pretty impressive this organization has been in the community for so many years and we’re glad to be able to celebrate this milestone,” Foster said.

Foster said the unifying theme of the awards is “commitment to community.”

“As the chamber, we focus on bringing together both business and the community at large,” Foster said. “No matter what award is given, the uniform characteristic of all the winners is their service and dedication to the community.”

Although Foster said she has not been with the chamber for 75 years, she knows it has had a major impact on the community.

“There’s a lot of documentation, from the ’40s and the ’50s, of newspaper clippings and photographs that show the chamber has done a lot for the community,” Foster said. “We have tons of photo albums filled with it.”

Foster said whether the chamber has put on events or attracted businesses to the area, it has played a key role in developing the area.

“We’ve always strived to shape and mold the community in a positive and responsible manner,” Foster said. “The chamber has always been a very community focused institution.”

The Holiday Inn and Suites is located at 111 Hospitality Drive in Front Royal. The event will start at 6 p.m. and tickets are $60 per person or $440 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased at wwww.frontroyalchamber.com or at 540-635-3185. Reservations need to be made by April 3.
