Man injured in beating Saturday
A Front Royal man was hospitalized Saturday night after he was beaten outside the Knotty Pine Restaurant and Lounge at 801 N. Royal Ave.
Police Chief Norman Shiflett identified the victim as Thomas Edward Showers, 44, of 703 Shenandoah Shores Road.
One man, John Grover Potter III, 30, of 74 Skyline Trailer Court, Bentonville, has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding in the case, and other suspects are being sought.
Front Royal police Sgt. Crystal Cline said Showers suffered three broken ribs and a swollen face during the attack at about 10:30 p.m.
Police said Showers was inside the Knotty Pine and then dragged into the alleyway where another patron kicked him repeatedly.
Cline said Showers was initially taken to Warren County Memorial Hospital and then to Winchester Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
“His injuries corroborated his statements about what took place,” Cline said of Showers.
Cline said Potter was arrested Sunday evening in Front Royal by officer Marc Ramey, who is investigating the case.
“We’re still investigating the incident,” Cline said. “It’s unclear how many people were involved.”
Anyone with information that could help identify other suspects or provide further evidence about the incident is asked to call Ramey 635-2111 or email him at email@example.com.
