On the roads: Expect closures in Frederick, Warren
The Virginia Department of Transportation has series of new road closures and delays in Warren and Frederick counties this week.
In Frederick County, Gainesboro Road will be closed Monday through Friday at its northern intersection with Route 522 for railroad crossing repairs. Motorists will detour on 522 eastbound for less than a mile and turn south on Siler Lane to connect back to Gainesboro Road.
Also in Fredrick County, Route 11 southbound will undergo an alternating lane closure at the Route 37 overpass for bridge inspection from noon to 4 p.m. Monday. Millwood Pike northbound will see right lane closures over Opeqoun Creek for bridge inspection from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.
On Interstate 81 in Frederick County, motorists are asked to be aware of alternating right shoulder closures for bridge inspections in both northbound and southbound lanes. On Monday, there will be alternating shoulder closures between mile markers 321.4 and 321.5 from 8 a.m. to noon. On Tuesday, expect a shoulder closures between mile markers 305.4 and 305.5 from 8 a.m. to noon and from 315 to 315.1 from noon to 4 p.m.
In Warren County, there will be single lane closures from I-81 southbound to Interstate 66 eastbound, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Motorists should also expect single lane closures at mile marker 7 on I-66 at the Shenandoah River bridge from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Also, on I-81 in Warren County, there will be a single lane closure on the exit ramp to I-66 for bridge work from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
VDOT said all work in Warren County is scheduled for completion by April 17, weather permitting.
