Schools in Frederick announce makeup days

Frederick County Public Schools has announced more hours have been added to its spring calendar following snow days last Thursday and Friday.

March 17 will now be a regular school day for students and staff, the division announced in a Monday news release. The day previously had been scheduled as a day off for students and a professional development day for staff. The professional day has been moved to June 8.

As of March 9, the school division has been closed for 12 days because of inclement weather.

Other recent changes to the calender changed early dismissal days to full school days, on Feb. 20, March 27, April 24 and June 5. March 16, which was a teacher workday, will now be a regular school day.

Teacher work days have been reassigned to June 9 and 10.

The division calendar, posted at, reflects Spring Break for April 3, 6 and 7. Schools will also be closed on May 1, for the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.
