MIDDLETOWN — A mobile home fire at 202 Ogden Lane displaced two residents Thursday morning.

Crews from Stephens City, Strasburg, Star Tannery, Woodstock and Middletown responded to the fire.

Middletown Fire Chief Henry Shiley said they were dispatched at 10:16 a.m. Thursday.

“We haven’t determined what started it yet, but it was going pretty good when we got here,” he said.

According to Shiley, the fire must have started “not too long” before crews were dispatched to the scene. “When there’s a fire in a trailer like this, they go up real fast.”

At the time, Shiley said crews were busy making sure “everything is out.”

Crews had the fire under control within 20 minutes of arrival, and Shiley estimated they were going to be on the scene for another 40 minutes performing salvage and overhaul.

Shiley noted that the cause of the fire will be “under investigation.” He added that it started in the middle of the home and spread to the rest of the residence.

The trailer, Shiley said, was “totally destroyed” as a result of the fire. He said that both inhabitants were home at the time of the fire.

“The one gentleman knocked the back window out of the trailer to come out because the fire was between him and the door,” Shiley said. “He had a few minor cuts on his hand.”

The man was later taken to the hospital and Shiley said that it would be “determined later” whether or not occupants would be receiving or accepting assistance from the Red Cross.
