Three charged in strong armed robbery
Frederick County authorities have arrested three men accused of robbing a 17-year-old boy in Stephens City during an alleged drug buy.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office identified the defendants as: William Cookus, 18, of Middletown, James Watkins, 18, of Star Tannery and David Sandy, 18 of Stephens City. All have been charged with strong armed robbery.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a news release reporting that the defendants robbed the 17-year-old Monday during a meeting the four parties had arranged in a wooded area in the 100-block of Fairfax Pike in Stephens City.
The defendants assaulted the juvenile and forced him to give them an undisclosed amount of cash from his wallet, the Sheriff’s Office said. The defendants fled on foot, but Sandy was arrested sometime thereafter. The Sheriff’s Office disclosed that Cookus and Watkins were arrested by 2 p.m. Thursday and were being held at Northwest Virgina Regional Adult Detention Center.
