Democrats set caucus
The Warren County Democratic Committee plans to hold a caucus in May to nominate candidates for local offices in the Nov. 3 election.
The committee has scheduled the assembled caucus for 11 a.m. May 9 in the Warren County Government Center, 220 N. Commerce Ave. The purpose of the caucus is to nominate candidates for the Board of Supervisors for the North River, Shenandoah and South River districts, sheriff, clerk of the circuit court, commonwealth attorney, commissioner of revenue and treasurer.
Anyone wishing to be a candidate for the nomination must file a written declaration of candidacy with Molly F. Snyder, chairwoman of the Warren County Democratic Committee, 751 Stayman St., Front Royal, VA, 22630 prior to 5 p.m., May 2. A $50 fee is required to file as a candidate. No person who has failed to comply with the pre-filing requirements may be considered for nomination. The chairwoman will certify nomination prior to the caucus.
Anyone attending the caucus must, prior to participating, sign a declaration form stating that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who opposes a nominee of the Democratic Party in the general or special election and is a registered voter in such district in the county. No fee is required to participate in the caucus.
The declaration form must be filled out at the caucus after 11 a.m. and prior to 11:30 a.m. Doors to the caucus will be closed at 11:30 a.m. and no person may complete the form or enter the caucus after that time with the exception of those people in line at that time.
