Gloria Huffman has been named Employee of the Year for 2014 by First Bank.
Huffman started with the bank in 2003 and serves as assistant banking center manager in the Mount Jackson Financial Center.
First Bank has announced Barbara Showers and Cynthia McClain were named Star Performers for 2014 for their demonstration of customer service, honesty, integrity and going above and beyond the call of duty in their daily activities.
Showers has been employed with First Bank since 2012 and works in the Item Processing department.
McClain has been with First Bank since 1994 and serves as vice president and credit analyst.
Business Appreciation Awards
June 1 is the deadline to submit applications for the Warren County Economic Development Authority and Chamber of Commerce 2015 Business Excellence: Business Appreciation Awards.
Three cash grants will be awarded for excellence in business practices and community service in the amounts of $1,000, $750 and $500 to small businesses with less than 500 employees that are licensed in the Town of Front Royal or Warren County.
In the four years since its inception, Business Excellence grants totaling $7,250 have been made to The Kiln Doctor for classroom supplies; Li’l Rugrats Daycare for outdoor play equipment; Apartment 2G for a new oven; Liberty Tax for interior redesign; Main Street Daily Grind for a new espresso machine; Royal Broadcasting for remote broadcasting equipment; Loving Arms, which instituted a painting class for seniors; and Linking You for design software.

Eagle Financial Services Inc., the holding company for Bank of Clarke County, whose divisions include Eagle Investment Group, has been included in American Banker magazine’s annual list of the Top 200 Community Banks in the United States, based on a three-year average return on average equity for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Eagle Financial was ranked No. 81 on the list, a 62-percent improvement over last year’s ranking of 131.
City National Bank has promoted Stephens City Branch Manager Tommy Mutter to Assistant Vice President.
Mutter has been with City since 2011 serving as a financial service representative, personal banker and manager of City’s North Lewisburg, West Virginia, branch.
Karl Petrick has been hired by Christendom College as assistant database administrator and student employee manager. A former assistant director of admissions for St. John’s College in Annapolis, Petrick will be in charge of benefactor and alumni records and manage all student employees for the advancement office.
Petrick will be responsible for managing all analytics and reports for the advancement office and keeping up-to-date on all things related to strategic data analysis for the college. He will hire, train and manage student personnel in the advancement office, organize and supervise the student calling program and mentor student employees as they progress through their collegiate careers.
Petrick has a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College , where he served as assistant director of admissions for the next two years, and a master’s in library science from Clarion University. Previously he was assistant director for data and records management in the admissions office at Shenandoah University in Winchester.
