McEathron to run for Warren County School Board
A longtime Warren County resident and hairstylist plans to seek a seat on the School Board.
Donna L. McEathron is running for the South River District in the Nov. 3 election. School Board member Joanne Cherefko does not plan to seek another term. McEathron will challenge Shawn R. McClosky for the board seat.
McEathron is the wife of Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron, who is running unopposed for another term.
Cherefko’s decision to not seek re-election spurred McEathron to run for the seat. McEathron said she also remained active in the schools, as a supporter and volunteer, as their children Elijah and Alayna went through the system. Both children graduated from Skyline High School.
“I’ve always been interested in the schools and never had the opportunity or the time on my hands I guess with kids being so active to do stuff like this,” Donna McEathron said. “Since Eli graduated college and Alayna is moving to Texas I guess I found myself with a little bit of time that I feel I can give back because someone else has been doing this all these years and has provided these awesome schools for my kids to enjoy and I’ve never had the opportunity to actually provide any of that.”
Donna McEathron said she could serve as a good voice for the South River District. McEathron added that she wants to continue to work done by Cherefko and the other board members, specifically with regards to teacher retention.
Donna McEathron moved to Warren County in 1974 and graduated from Warren County High School in 1979. McEathron has worked as a hair stylist for 36 years. She works at Mane Attraction Salon and Wellness Spa in Winchester.
The McEathrons have two grown children who both graduated from Skyline High School.
