Two sentenced in fatal heroin overdose
Two defendants who sold heroin that led to a fatal overdose were sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to lengthy prison terms.
Dennis Getz, 38, was sentenced to 18 1/2 years and Brandi Nichole Marple, 29, received a 9 1/2 year sentence. Both are from Winchester.
A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office said Marple and Getz admitted that they traveled to Baltimore where they bought heroin, returned to Winchester and resold part of their purchase later in the day to someone identified by authorities only as A.B.L. The victim was found dead the next day.
Law enforcement officials found cell phone text messages between Marple and the victim in which they discussed a $100 heroin buy. Authorities also found heroin packaging with the victim that they later matched with packaging found at Getz’s residence.
The two defendants later admitted they bought heroin in Baltimore and sold it to A.B.L.
