Man arrested at Front Royal campground
A Front Royal man was arrested Saturday morning at a campground on Koa Drive and charged with being drunk in public and weapons charges.
James C. Hall II, 27, of Gloucester Road, Front Royal, is being held in the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail on a $4,000 secured bond. Other charges filed include carrying a concealed weapon while being drunk in public, reckless handling of a firearm and willfully discharging a firearm in a place of public business, according to a news release from Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron.
The release states that deputies were dispatched to 585 Koa Drive to investigate a report of an intoxicated man shooting a gun in the campground.
“Responding Deputies established a perimeter around Hall’s last known location and evacuated the remaining campers to a safer area within the campground. Night vision and thermal imaging equipment was used in an attempt to locate Hall.” the release states. “After several minutes of verbal commands, via a PA system, Hall exited a wooded area and was taken into custody without incident. A Glock .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun was located in Hall’s waistband. No one was injured during the incident.”
Front Royal police assisted the Sheriff’s Office in the arrest.
