NVDaily update: Lord Fairfax announces Shentel partnership

Lord Fairfax Community College has partnered with Shenandoah Telecommunications Company to boost opportunities for student success, the school announced today.

In a news release issued today, the school stated that the partnership will center on career opportunities in fields including business, accounting and engineering.

Lord Fairfax offers certification courses in fields such as business and information systems technology that tie directly into positions at Shentel.

The partnership will seek to afford students access to “authentic learning opportunities … through guest lectures, career fairs, internship programs and mentorships.”

Kim Blosser, Lord Fairfax’s vice president for Academic and Student Affiars, stated in the release that Lord Fairfax students “will have the opportunity to get hands-on information, and Shentel will have the opportunity to help the development of potential employees.”

The release also stated that Lord Fairfax will endorse students who participate in student internship programs offered by Shentel.

At 1 p.m. today, representatives from Shentel and Lord Fairfax will hold a news conference at the Corron Community Development Center in Middletown to sign the partnership agreement.
