Strasburg man arrested after shooting

Randy Slade

STRASBURG – Police arrested a town resident early Monday on charges related to a shooting and domestic violence incident.

Police Chief Timothy Sutherly identified the defendant as Randy Ray Slade, 25, of 35 Brandy Court.

Sutherly said police arrested Slade after he allegedly fired six shots into the air outside his residence. Slade is charged with shooting a gun in a public place, brandishing a firearm, public drunkenness, assault and battery on a family member and disorderly conduct.

Sutherly said Strasburg police officer T.M. Lloyd was on foot patrol behind the Ramada Inn in the area of Brandy Court at about 12:17 a.m. when he heard gunshots and two males arguing.

Sutherly said Lloyd discovered “a domestic situation” involving Slade and a woman.

Sutherly said Lloyd “found out the female had been assaulted by Slade, and he had picked up a handgun and fired six shots in the air.”

Sutherly said Lloyd and another officer recovered a .380 caliber handgun and six shell casings at the scene.

Sutherly said the woman had bruises on her legs, but she declined to be transported to a hospital.

Sutherly said Slade and the woman had been living together. Slade fired the gun outdoors after family members inside the residence separated him and the woman, Sutherly said.

Slade is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 14. No information was available on his bail status.
