Winchester bank robbed at gunpoint

Authorities say an unidentified suspect robbed a Winchester bank at gunpoint Friday morning.

A white male entered the BB&T branch at 2082 S. Pleasant Valley Road at approximately 11:24 a.m., according to information from the Winchester Police Department. The suspect displayed a gun and demanded money, police said. Bank employees and a customer were inside at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported, police said. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen heading north on foot.

Witnesses described the suspect as in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a navy blue jacket, blue jeans, a baseball cap and a bandanna covering part of his face.

A state police K-9 unit responded to the scene and tried to track the suspect but failed to find him.

Authorities ask that anyone with information on this incident contact the Crime Solvers hotline at 540-665-TIPS. Individuals who provide information that leads to an arrest in this case can be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
