Bret Hrbek, an Edward Jones financial adviser in Front Royal since 2001, has been appointed to the firm’s Grassroots Legislative Task Force, a group dedicated to voicing the concerns of individual investors to local, state and national lawmakers.
As a task force member, Hrbek will travel to Washington, D.C., to discuss with lawmakers a number of investment-related issues on the minds of individual investors.

Matthew L. Kreitzer has joined the law firm of Booth & McCarthy, located at 21 S. Kent St. in Winchester. He will offer full civil litigation services with a focus in family law.
Sport & Spine
Performance Sport & Spine has announced the addition of two new practitioners, Dr. Tom Dickerson, DC, and Whitney Shifflett, a board-certified and licensed athletic trainer.
Dickerson, a Virginia Tech graduate, holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a doctorate of chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
Prior to joining Performance Sport & Spine, Dickerson oversaw his own chiropractic practice within a personal training center focused on sports medicine and performance. He served as team chiropractor for the Christiansburg High School boys basketball and wrestling teams. His focus will be treating patients with sports-related injuries.
Shifflett will work as the team leader for sideline sports coverage as well as community outreach. She has worked with local men’s baseball, lacrosse and football as well as women’s volleyball teams. Most recently she served as the head athletic trainer for the Front Royal Cardinal’s baseball team during the 2015 summer season. She earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Bridgewater College in 2015.
Jackson Corner Cafe
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the new roaster at the Jackson Corner Cafe and Coffee House, 9386 S. Congress St., New Market, at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 4.
