Diabetes event to be held at Warren Memorial Hospital
Warren Memorial Hospital will host a Lunch & Learn program on Wednesday.
According to Arlene Figgins, diabetes nurse educator with ValleyHealth, November is American Diabetes Month, and in recognition of this month, a luncheon will be held by the hospital’s Diabetes Management.
Figgins said Diabetes Management will provide education on diabetes to anyone who wants to learn more about the disease.
According to the American Diabetes Association’s website, http://www.diabetes.org/, these are statistics on diabetes in the U.S.:
- Nearly 30 million people in the U.S. have diabetes
- 86 million have prediabetes and are at risk for type 2 diabetes
- The estimated total national cost of diagnosed diabetes in the U.S is $245 billion.
The luncheon will be held in the third floor conference room 1, starting at noon.
