Stonewall Jackson High School to host holiday event

Stonewall Jackson High School plans to host a breakfast with Santa and candy land event on Saturday to celebrate the holiday season.

Mike Dorman, principal of Stonewall Jackson High School, said that this is a community event and the public is invited.

“We will have breakfast for families in our community. After families eat, the kids can do crafts for Christmas, which is sponsored by the Art Guilds, and they can go see Mr. and Mrs. Claus and get pictures with Santa, which is sponsored by the Student Council Association,” he said.

In addition to breakfast and pictures with Santa, the Interact Club is sponsoring a candy land area for kids to go through as well, he added.

“The proceeds go to buy needy families Christmas gifts in our community,” he said.

Donations for “A Small Hand,” community-based organization in Edinburg, will be accepted as well.

The organization helps infants up to 36 months in the community. The school event is accepting items and monetary donations for these infants.

The event will be held at the high school from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
