Hospital to hold tree lighting ceremony

Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Auxiliary plans a Tree of Love campaign and tree lighting ceremony for Woodstock and Shenandoah County on Sunday.

A light will be placed on one of the trees at the hospital’s entrance for every $5 donation to honor or remember loved ones during the holiday season.

Linda McClelland, member of the auxiliary, said, “It’s a means for the community to reach out and support those in need.”

The names of those being honored will also be placed in the Tree of Love book, which is on display in the lobby through mid-January.

She said that proceeds benefit the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Home Care fund, which provides assistance to patients in Shenandoah County who are not able to afford medications or medical equipment.

Donations are accepted throughout the year, but she said this time of year is when they receive the most donations.

The tree lighting ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the hospital’s main lobby, and the public is invited to attend. There will be entertainment and refreshments available as well.

Donations for the 2015 Tree of Love can be mailed to P.O. Box 132, Woodstock, VA 22664. For more information, call 540-459-1220 ext. 31220.
