EDINBURG – Lucy, a 5-year-old domestic long hair cat is patiently waiting for a new home.

Katrina Keywood, animal caretaker at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, said Lucy has been at the shelter since the end of September and would make a great addition to someone’s life.

“She’s a gorgeous cat,” Keywood said. Her fur is soft to the touch and would require routine brushing to keep it smooth and knot-free.

Lucy likes to “be the queen of the house,” she said. Lucy would be best as an indoor cat as she doesn’t get along too well with other animals or kids.

The best home for Lucy would be with a single person or with a couple. Keywood said that Lucy has a “big personality.”

“She’s patiently waiting, but because of her dominant traits, people have overlooked her,” she said.

Lucy still loves to play and be around people “on her own terms,” she said. She’s okay with being held and will jump on your lap and want to be pet.

She has already been spayed and is up-to-date on her vaccinations, so her adoption fee is $15.

For more information on adopting Lucy, contact the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter at 268 Landfill Road in Edinburg, by calling 540-984-8955, or visiting their website at http://shenandoahcountyva.us/animal-shelter.
