U.S. Attorney sworn in
John P. Fishwick Jr. has been sworn in as the new U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.
Fishwick, 58, of Roanoke, took the oath of office in a short ceremony Monday.
Fishwick, a graduate of Washington and Lee University, has been a trial attorney for more than 30 years in state and federal court. His nomination by President Barack Obama was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
The U.S. Attorney has offices in Roanoke, Harrisonburg, Abingdon, Charlottesville and Harrisonburg.
Quoted in a statement, Fishwick said, “I look forward to working with the great lawyers and staff of the United States Attorney’s Office, our law enforcement partners, community leaders and others on protecting the citizens of the Western District of Virginia.”
