Winter Holiday Party scheduled

Friends of Special Education will hold a Winter Holiday Party for special education children and their families on Dec. 13 at the Toms Brook Fire Hall.

Michelle Nelson, administrative assistant with the organization, said there’s always a huge turnout for the event.

Linda Thompson, 66, of Woodstock, has been helping to put the event together for 25 years.

“All the children in Shenandoah County in special education are invited with their families,” she said.

She added that there will be games, crafts, pictures with Santa and each kid will be given a present, a first for this event.

The kids will also be able to decorate homemade cookies and make Christmas ornaments for their trees.

“We have a great day,” Thompson said.

To make this event possible, she said that she asks the community for donations.

“I couldn’t do it without the community’s support,” she said.
