Handley Regional Library to host health screenings

The Handley Regional Library will host the Free Medical Clinic of Northern Shenandoah Valley, Inc. for on-site health screenings on Friday.

The screenings will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the library’s Benham room.

Amanda Acker, public relations and marketing associate with Handley Regional Library, said that this is the first year for this event, but depending on the success, this could become an annual or semi-annual event in the future.

“The library is more than a building full of books,” she said, “It is a major community hub where information is found and shared and where our community partners meet with area citizens for the benefit of all.”

Screenings offered include:
• Blood glucose
• Blood pressure
• Body mass index
• Flu shot
• HIV testing
• Depression

A cholesterol test is also available for a fee of $4

All other screenings are free.

The check-ups are free, no insurance or appointments are required. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
