House fire displaces family

WOODSTOCK – A house fire near Woodstock on Saturday afternoon left a family displaced.

Emergency dispatchers received a call at about 3 p.m. for a structure fire at 2098 Back Road, according to information from the Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue Department. Crews from volunteer fire departments in Woodstock, Conicville and Edinburg, the Woodstock Rescue Squad, Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue Department responded to the call.

The occupants had evacuated the house by the time responders arrived.

The first arriving officer reported seeing smoke showing from all sides of the house, according to department information. Firefighters brought the blaze under control by about 3:30. Building Official Mike Dellinger deemed the house a total loss.

The fire remains under investigation.
